Daystar Supporter Eloise shares her history and passion for Daystar University.

Why do I love Daystar University’s nursing program and what makes their training so unique?  I had the opportunity to develop and teach the first "Medical Ethics: A Christian Perspective" course in the Department of Nursing at Daystar University Summer 2017.  Of immediate note was the high quality of both students and faculty with their academic excellence and intellectual curiosity, in addition to their compassionate and caring natures.  Another unique feature was their deep concern for the ethics and future of nursing in Africa and the world.  These young people, from various East African countries, show great understanding of Christian Servant-Leadership and are eager to put it into practice.  These are the future leaders of nursing in Africa - they are the ones who will push to further define the field in their various areas of interest within hospitals and in teaching, as well as the ones to start much needed Medical Ethics committees in hospitals.  They will be able to accomplish this by having received excellent training at Daystar with a defined Christian ethical core which is deeply embedded in the curriculum.  Both students and faculty demonstrate great wisdom and Christian discernment, leading to the development of one of the fastest growing departments in the entire university.  The students have available to them a fully equipped nursing lab with which to further develop a wide variety of skills they will use in their profession.  Daystar US donors are integral in supporting this program through scholarships for needy students and funding some of the equipment for the lab. This experience inspired me to inform the world about a program in which your investment dollar would be well positioned.
