“For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”
Psalm 139: 13-14 NIV

Bridget Amesa Mweseli is an international relations and security major at DU. She is doing amazing things to help Kenya's youth by securing funding for books at a local primary school. Take a look at all the work she's been doing to serve her community below:
Daystar's Destiny Programme just recently participated in team building exercises at the Athi River Campus. The Destiny Program helps to prepare high schoolers in life skills before they begin post-secondary education.
Congratulations to the Falcons! The DU rugby team finished their first season in the division two league this last weekend (March 11th). They won their last match and secured the number three position spot. We can't wait to watch them continue to shine next season!
Daystar students touch lives in the Kibra Slums. A group of DU students visited the slums to provide hygiene solutions for girls. They donated goods worth kes. 500,000, including reusable sanitary towels, detergents, and underpants for boys and girls.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro announced in February that Daystar University is creating an educational model to provide local prison officers & inmates with access to study materials from their correctional facilities.
As student numbers continue to rise, the need for funding of both our loan and scholarship match programs continues to increase.
$500,000 was given to start an internal student loan program. The loan is given at a low interest rate (which is put back into the fund to help others) and the payback can be either working at Daystar (such as a postgraduate student teaching undergrads) or making payments once they have secured a job. The requirement is that we cannot use the funds until they are matched, so the goal is to reach a million dollars in the fund. So far $113,250 has been given towards the match, so $226,500 is available for student loans!
This year the number of students who applied for scholarships has doubled, creating a need for increased funding to our scholarship match program of $50,000. To date this year, we have received $27,855 in donations to this fund.
