Update from President Laban
as we travel to Kenya this week
June 4th, 2021
"Dear brothers and sisters, after we were separated from you for a little while
(though our hearts never left you), we tried very hard to come back
because of our intense longing to see you again."
1 Thes. 2:17 (NLT)
This week, Lord willing, we will finally be able to be reunited together in person with our brothers and sisters at Daystar! Alan and his wife Sheila will depart for their flight tomorrow and a team of five from University of Northwestern-St. Paul and KTIS radio and myself will be departing on Monday.
There are so many reasons to be excited about this trip. I will just name a few.
By far, the most exciting is fellowship and friendship. We are one family at Daystar and we love to be able to share life and ministry together in our partnership as brothers and sisters in the Lord.
· We are also excited to meet many of our dear scholarship students (a number of whom we have not yet met in person), and encourage them in their faith and studies. The photo above is from our last meeting with scholarship students in July 2019.
We are excited to finally bring the communications and radio equipment that University of Northwestern so generously donated over a year ago. After several cancelled trips, we can now fill the newly renovated studios with up-to-date equipment for communications studies, giving Daystar students the best learning experience possible. Also Shine FM will have the most modern radio equipment to broadcast high-quality Christian programs and music to the surrounding area. Thank you, University of Northwestern, for your investment in Daystar students and your perseverance to make this a reality!
We are excited to see so many upgrades to the Athi River campus. We look forward to sharing those updates with you. The most exciting is the new fitness center with perhaps the best new equipment found anywhere in Africa. We will share an update in person next week in action! There are so many more campus updates such as the new boundary wall, thousands of new trees, and the upgraded cafeteria.
Will you please pray for us? Please pray for travel mercies and health along our journey and for our families that we will miss. Please pray also that we can bring refreshment and encouragement to those who are fainthearted.

We are excited to spend time with President Laban – encouraging each other and planning for the future. We will also be making plans for President Laban to take a trip to the U.S. soon to connect in person, with partners here, God willing.
Thank you so much for standing with Daystar and for your prayers for us over the next two weeks.
We greatly appreciate you!
Blessings,
Walt
