I salute you in the name of Christ. I trust that you are doing well and have been keeping safe. As for me, I have been well and the Lord has been protecting me. I am the 3rd born in my family and the only child who has been privileged enough to go through a university education. I do not take this for granted, for I am convinced that it is not a mere coincidence. I come from a humble background, but I did not let that limit me, because I believe that I was meant for greatness. The Lord assures me in Jeremiah 29:11. Every time when I feel like the walls are caving in, I remember this verse and feel rejuvenated and ready to carry on. I also believe that my past has nothing to do with my future that is why I walk in pride knowing that my past is behind me, and if Christ is for me, who can be against me. I will work hard and smart to help those behind me to continue with education, because I have seen how it has impacted my life in a great way.

I vividly recall how I came to Daystar with nostalgia. Growing up, I always wanted to pursue communication. I asked around on the best university to quench my thirst for education in this area, and everyone told me that Daystar is the best university to pursue a degree in communication. I was excited and confused at the same time. I was excited because I knew what university I wanted to join, but confused because I knew clearly that my mom could not raise the school fees to support me. So she approached a distant relative who promised to pay my fees in full till I completed my undergraduate education. I was able to join Daystar on May 2015. Suddenly rain started beating down on me in the following semester, when my donor went mute all of a sudden. I called her, but all the calls went unanswered, she never responded to my messages and I knew that my dream had just been lost. This was the darkest period in my entire life. Going back home, not knowing what is next, I almost fell into depression. After months of thinking, I decided to approach the Financial Aid office and that is how my dimming star began to shine again. Mrs. Jeniffer Kinoti guided me on what to do and by God’s grace, I was awarded the Daystar Scholarship. I was able to go through with my university education.

I am carrying memories that I will relish and cherish for the rest of my life. I have become so fond of Daystar that it has become my second home. I am excited to graduate but feeling sad at the same time. The sadness that comes when one is separated from people he/she considers family. I felt like I am losing a part of me, but life has to move on nonetheless. I have made friends who have become brothers and sisters that I never had. Some we still keep in check here and there. We remind one another of the sleepless nights we had because we had to finish our assignments and submit them in good time. We cherish both the sweet and bitter memories because that is what life is all about. Looking back, I joined Daystar as a young girl, but now I have grown in all aspects of my life. The school provided me with all the nourishment I needed to become an all rounded person. In fact, if I were to be asked to choose again, I would still choose Daystar University. What the university offers is far beyond just education. It is without a doubt that this is the university where stars are made. I am a proud daughter of this noble institution.

I have changed my perspective towards so many things in life. For example, since I have learned that the highest measure of success is serving humanity, which Daystar refers to as “Servant Leadership,” I now view things from a very different lens. I enjoy serving people that it has become an integral part of me. This unique characteristic has made me so different and I always stand out. I have had the opportunity to serve as a secretary at the Daystar Ladies Fellowship as well as a class representative in various classes. Here I exercised my servant-leadership skills and also learned how to relate better with my lecturers as well as my colleagues.

After graduation, I hope and pray that I will secure a job with one of the best organizations in the world as well as start my own business in the near future. This will help me lead a better life and help pay school fees for my Masters studies and later on pursue my Ph.D. That has always been my dream. I believe when the Lord says that He will grant us our heart’s desires, that he knows what is best for us in His perfect timing and not our timing.

I have never met you in person, but you are an angel. You came into my life when I was at the verge of giving up and when life had lost meaning. I had lost hope, but you gave it back to me. I may not know you, but you secured a special place in my heart. I may not reward you for helping me complete my university education, but may He who sees what is done in secret reward you before men. I pray that a good measure of blessings, pressed down, shaken together and running over will run after you. May His blessings that make riches be added to your portion. May His favor be upon you and your household. I know that you have sacrificed a lot, but let me assure you that it will not go unnoticed, and that God will reward your kind gesture. May He bless you with a long, happy and prosperous life as well as good health. You are appreciated, loved and cherished.
