Your Impact on Daystar Scholarship Students During Covid-19
“Words are not enough to express my utmost gratitude to you”
Update from Samuel
I take this opportunity to thank God for you and your family. You have touched and continue to touch the lives of so many families, especially mine. May the Almighty God continue blessing you and your family. I watch news about the COVID-19 updates in the USA with horror. I am always worried you. I pray that the Lord will guard you from all evil; He will preserve you and will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore (Psalm 121:7-8). I send my greetings to you and your family with God’s abundant blessings. Corona has changed everything. Here, things are not so bad when it comes to infections, but the pandemic has messed up everyday life both on and off campus. I wonder what life would be had God not brought you into my life. Words are not enough to express my utmost gratitude to you.
The challenges we are having due to the COVID- 19 has traumatized the whole world. One friend back in Uganda who I was close to called and informed me that she was the ninth person to get it there. This made me so tense and I am still worried but knowing that God is in control. On the other hand, my classes have also been affected as accessing the e-learning is a challenge since I am using my friend’s laptop and phone to access it, which are personal items to them. I have to wait for their classes to end so that I can borrow and attend mine as well. The communication process is another issue, but I am working on it so that I can benefit from my lectures.
As of now, I am still tense about the outcome of this pandemic but every time when I get tense, I pray to have God be in charge of it for me. We have also formed a prayer group with my friends (Bior and Emmanuel), where we meet every morning to pray. I hope God keeps you safe in this difficult time. May the almighty God continue to guide you in whatever you do. God bless you.
Once again, I can’t conclude without wishing you and your family God’s blessings, especially during these hard times of COVID-19 pandemic.
Yours in Christ,

Update from Joy
This semester, I was doing an internship at the Global Peace Foundation. I liked being an intern there because I was working in a professional place and I got to learn a lot of new things. We organized some events and projects dealing with education, the youth and women. I thank God for the opportunity. However due to the Coronvirus pandemic, I have not reported to work for the last four weeks. They usually ask me to write some articles from home and send them via email. I am looking forward to the graduation and praying that the pandemic will have ended. I believe God will help me through it too.
As I graduate in November, I remember how life in Daystar was really amazing for me. I studied hard and really enjoyed the courses. I enjoyed the Kenya Model of United Nation club in Daystar and we were trained to become future delegates, I would participate every year at the UN offices in Kenya for a whole week. I learned alot of things. Moreover, I joined the volleyball club and was playing for the school team. I had so much fun doing that. I also joined the dance team and we would perform during events at Daystar, it was really good too. Also, while at Daystar, I experienced growth in many ways but especially spiritual. I learned to trust in Jesus like never before and this is one of the many things I am taking with me; trusting Jesus is the secret to making it in this life.
After graduation, I would like to do a Master's degree and I am hoping that Jesus will make a way for me. I am trusting Him for direction because His ways are the best and He is the best guide. However, I am thinking about starting a cake business because I really enjoy baking and it will help me save up for my Master's degree.
As I conclude, I really want to take this time and appreciate you for your great help. My words are not enough to express my gratitude. I really thank you for the goodness that you have shown me. I will never forget. You have sown a seed in my life and I pray that God enables me to sow it in other people who need help like I did. It is a dream come true that a refugee girl like me has completed her bachelor's degree and you made it happen. May God reward you, keep you and bless you abundantly. I love you!
