Honoring Dr. D. Ray Hostetter

Dr. D. Ray Hostetter, lifetime Christian educator and beloved husband and father died on February 12 at the age of 88. He passed peacefully from complications due to Parkinson’s disease in the presence of Audrey, his wife of more than 65 years.

The work of Ray Hostetter was essential in the development of Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. Ray had the idea to share the resources of Messiah College with an existing African institution to develop a university that would serve African students in their context and culture. The partnership between Messiah College and Daystar University brought the first bachelor’s degree program of an accredited Christian liberal arts institution in Africa.

D. Ray Hostetter’s life was composed of faith, vision and promise. He fulfilled them humility, integrity and strength. With his passing we morn our loss and celebrate heaven’s increase.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made to Daystar University.
