Africans Praying in Concern for U.S. Elections
"And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10:29-31, NIV
During this time with so much uncertainty and division in this country we have been encouraged by so many of our Daystar friends sending us notes. Many of them have let us know they are watching what is happening and really praying for us. Even short notes such as this one from a Daystar graduate from Juba, South Sudan, “Praying for you all as election continues” or this one from Nairobi, “Blessings in today's elections! May it be a peaceful and successful one.” These show the love and concern from so many of our African brothers and sisters as they feel the tension we are enduring.
Yesterday we were having a zoom call with President Laban and some of our colleagues from Kenya – they also shared their concern for their U.S. friends. Laban shared a short devotion with us that was very timely, especially as it relates to the election and the still pending results. He referred to Matthew 10:29-31, wherein Jesus states, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” A video of this is below, though I missed recording some of it, so the beginning is a bit abrupt. It was so very encouraging to me that I played it for our Daystar U.S. team, as well as for my wife and children as a devotion this morning. I pray that you too will be blessed by Laban’s encouragement as we trust in our heavenly Father during this difficult time.
Blessings,
