Discouraging News- Restrictions in Kenya
Please Pray with Us
April 9th, 2021
"They do not fear bad news;
they confidently trust the LORD to care for them."
Psalm 112:7 (NLT)
The Kenyan president recently ordered the “cessation of movement” in the five counties in and around Nairobi, after an increase in cases of Covid. As part of this order, he ordered, "With respect to Education in Kenya, there shall be the immediate suspension of all on-going physical learning in all our education institutions including universities and tertiary and vocational colleges, other than for candidates sitting for their examinations and those in medical training institutions, until otherwise notified". The other pieces of this order were: no in-person church services, no seating in restaurants and the closure of bars. They are hoping to reopen in May.
This is very discouraging news, after Daystar was beginning to return to some normalcy (especially with all of the Covid protocols in place at Daystar University). With this news, most students have returned to their homes; many of our scholarship students live in the slums and return to difficult living situations. This is an unfortunate time to have this happen, as the semester was close to ending with exams starting soon. Will you please pray for the many students who are traveling home? Please pray for their protection and that they would be able to trust in the Lord during this disruption. Please also pray for wisdom for President Laban and the Daystar leadership team as they consider how to care for each student and lead the university.
Thank you for standing with Daystar in prayer!
Blessings,
Alan Cooke,
Executive Director, Daytar U.S.
