Good News for a New Semester
May 13th, 2021
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
God has been answering your prayers in several ways! Thank you for so many who have been presenting Daystar to the Lord in prayer. I wanted to share a few encouraging praises to God.
This past week, we learned that there has been some relieving of restrictions. The Kenya government is allowing more students to return to campus but still at a limited amount.
The Covid positivity rate has moved below 9% from a high of over 20%. The President of Kenya has said that all restrictions will be removed when the positivity rate reaches 5%. Please pray for a lowering of reported cases so that all Daystar students can return to campus soon.
Many Daystar students will be returning to campus for the beginning of the May semester beginning on May 24th! These include:
All new Diploma and Undergraduate students who will have a week of orientation beginning on May 17th.
All continuing students in the School of Nursing.
All students admitted in August 2020 and January 2021.
All continuing Diploma students.
Enrollment is close to surpassing 6,000 students from a low of about 4,000 at the beginning of the pandemic. Praise God for this opportunity to educate more Christ-centered servant leaders to transform the future of Africa! Please pray families have funds available to cover tuition for the upcoming semester.
In this past week's online chapel service, President Laban shared his encouragement and prayer for the upcoming May semester to the Daystar community. We have shared a short clip from his message below for you to hear his heart for Daystar. You can also click on this link to watch. Please continue to pray for Laban as he continues to need God's wisdom to lead the university. You can also see the full chapel service at this link where Chaplain Steven Nduto introduces this semester's chapel theme, "A Call to Victory", based on this theme verse for the semester Joshua 1:8, "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."
Thank you again for all of your prayers and support for Daystar students! As you present your prayers and petitions to God may the peace of God which transcends all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Also please share how we can be lifting up any of your concerns to the Lord as a Daystar family.
In His Peace,
Walt
