I grew up in a refugee camp in Uganda where I completed both my elementary and high school although with difficulties. My father was killed in Rwanda during the genocide leaving me and three other siblings under the care of my single mother.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior in 1999 when a pastor came to our school and preached to us from Exodus 14:13: “Do not be afraid, stand firm and you will see the deliverance of the Lord…”Surely, I have seen the hand of God in my life having gone through a lot of hardship: conflicts which resulted to the genocide in country, living at the refugee camp with very limited resources, etc. Through all these difficulties, God has assured me of His protection and provision. I have known God as the Father of the fatherless and the best Friend. I couldn’t manage without Him. Since then, I have been growing spiritually and learning to be patient and forgiving, above all trusting God in everything.

Upon graduating from high school, I couldn’t join university for further studies due to lack of finances. However, I took a short course at Cisco Computer Center to earn a certificate with a help from a Christian sponsor.

I plan to work in Rwanda and offer assistance to orphans and widows especially families who lost their dear ones to genocide and deadly diseases.  I hope that they can develop their own skills that will sustain them in the future and begin to know the hope I have received, allowing them to reach out to more people. I want to teach the word of God to my community.

I hope to be successful in this course and achieve my dreams. In the past sometimes as I preached the gospel, some people asked me very difficult questions and I ran short of answers. I appreciate that Daystar is a Christian university because it will provide me more knowledge of how to relate to people and tell them about the Word of God.

Now that I am at Daystar University, it is my joy to study here because I have a vision of strengthening my Christian beliefs and becoming mature spiritually so as to help others grow in the same way. I have a vision to be working with the community and to support the youth ministry and to improve on the lives of the poor, widows and the orphans. It’s my desire to learn skills which will enable me to help others help themselves and earn a living and live a Christian life.

I keep praying to God to make me stronger and learn more to overcome any of my shortfalls. I thank God that I have already been given an opportunity and I thank my sponsor so much. May the Lord God bless him many times for his big heart.
